Winter Blues, Good News
February 3rd, 2010You can tell by the lack of posts here that I’ve got the winter blues. I’ve been riding, I just haven’t had anything fun to share.
We got news today that my employer will be providing tax-free reimbursement of certain bicycle commuting expenses to the full /month IRS limit. Yippeee! That’s 0 a year of work-sponsored bike upgrades!!! There’s nothing like finding money to put some spring back in your step/pedal stroke.

This is *very* exciting. I’ve been trying to get some fire under this movement since it became available in 2009, but a year later, no luck. Thanks for jolting my memory, I’ll go back and poke at the HR group some more.

I’ve been confused about the bike commuter benefit, isn’t it theoretically automatic? I commute and I’d like the benefit, but I’ve been averse to asking for anything, given certain employment realities.
